FREEDOM ACUPUNCTURE

BOOK NOW

The body has an innate ability to heal itself given the right environment and building blocks, acupuncture helps to provide those key ingredients, and thus support the body's own healing process.  In doing so, you are not simply treating the symptoms, but rather treating the core problem and in many cases, finding a permanent solution to your health concern.

There are many ‘styles’ of acupuncture being practiced by acupuncturists around the world, meaning if you saw five different acupuncturist you could potentially receive five different treatments.  Some styles maybe work better at treating certain conditions, but essentially, they all work.  At Freedom acupuncture Jacqui practices a relatively new style of acupuncture known as Neoclassical Acupuncture (NCA).  ‘Neo’ meaning New and ‘classical’ meaning traditional.  Essentially the founder of this acupuncture technique, Dr Slate Burris, studied the ancient Chinese texts, and came up with his own interpretation of their meaning, which is a little different many past interpretations.  And thus an  amazing new system of acupuncture was born based on these ancient theories.

Neoclassical Acupuncture  is a total paradigm shift from any other systems of acupuncture.  Instead of focusing on the symptom or even the cause of the symptoms, the focus is instead on finding blockages within the body.  What are blockages? Call them what you like, but they present as tender areas at seemingly random areas around the body.  These tender areas are identified by the practitioner by systematically palpating (pressing) specific areas on the abdomen, arms and legs.  The feedback from the patient then becomes the basis for the diagnosis, and the practitioner can then identify which acupuncture points to use.

So instead of focusing on specific symptoms or areas of the body i.e.to treat  the shoulder, this acupuncture system is optimising the healing processes throughout the entire body not just the shoulder,  allowing the body to heal itself, no matter what the symptom is or where it is, whether it be pain, autoimmune, digestive, fertility or hormonal etc.  This means if someone has multiple health issues, they will all begin healing from the very first treatment.

And a bonus, usually far fewer needles are required, typically no more than 5 needles are used in a treatment, often as few as one needle.  In addition, the number of treatments required is usually less than what other styles of acupuncture require.  For acute issues typically three treatments are required, and for chronic issues three to six treatments are usually required in total.

Jacqui  initially started studying Neoclassical Acupuncture in 2022, but found the results inconsistent in the beginning, and so would often revert back to what she knew understood previously.  Because she knew the potential, she continued doing further study whenever the founder of this system came to Australia.  She is now at the highest level attainable and the results speak for themselves, simply amazing!

For optimal results we ask new clients to book in for three treatments within their first week.  If more treatments are required weekly treatments are acceptable after that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The number of treatments depends on the severity, complexity and where the problem is in the body.  The frequency of the treatment can in some cases can be just as important as the treatment itself.  We ask patients to book in for three treatments upfront, and then weeklyafter this  if more treatments are required.  This is because with acupuncture we can’t increase the dose, we can only increase the frequency in order to get a stronger effect.  As a general rule when it comes to tresating pain syndromes, muscles are by far the easiest tissue in the body to treat, and issues involving ligaments, tendons, cartilage and bone being much more difficult to treat, and so require more treatments.

When you see your acupuncturist for your symptoms, they will make an assessment of what maybe causing your symptoms, and base your treatments on this.  With acupuncture we always need to treat the cause of the problem, not the symptom.  If we only treat symptoms, they will continue to return. For this reason, to increase the effectiveness of your treatment it is helpful to bring any diagnostic reports with you to your initial appointment.  This will allow us to have a better understanding of the cause of your symptoms, and to tell you upfront if your condition is treatable with acupuncture and also to give you an estimate of the number of sessions required.

The success of your treatment, could be our next referral, so it’s in best our interest to get you better, and with the least number of treatments.

Acupuncture is not covered by Medicare, although there are currently negotiations between  the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA) & the Australian government to have acupuncture added to Medicare rebate scheme for allied health services for those people who have a chronic (or terminal) medical condition that is being managed by a GP.

Most major health funds offer a rebate for acupuncture, this is processed through our HICAPS EFTPOS machine at the point of payment.   Freedom Acupuncture is also a Medibank Private's Members Choice provider of acupuncture in the Redcliffe area.

Initial consultation is $110 and 1.5 hours.  Follow up appointments are $90 and one hour.
