Jacqui completed her four year Acupuncture degree in 2017, and also has a degree in nursing which she completed in 1996. Having a western medicine background has helped her combine the best of both worlds with her treatments and understanding of Chinese Medicine (CM), not only for acupuncture but also herbs.
Freedom Acupuncture has been operating in Comino’s Arcade, Redcliffe since January 2020. Since graduating from acupuncture college, Jacqui has studied many different styles of Acupuncture including Tan, Tung, Zhu scalp, Ear Acupuncture, Trigger Point release, Motor Point Acupuncture and electro acupuncture. Over time she found some styles better for some conditions compared to others. Consequently, she uses all these styles on a daily basis depending on what is being treating, often layering her treatments to get better results, like Distal Acupuncture with Electro Acupuncture.
In early 2022, she came across a system of acupuncture called Neoclassical Acupuncture (NCA) which other acupuncturist were describing as “the next level”, and decided to also learn this system of acupuncture. It really is a revolutionary style of acupuncture and is a real paradigm shift compared to the other styles, in that all diagnosis is done by palpating the body to check for tender (sore) areas. Assuming you have nothing wrong with your legs or arms, have you ever noticed when pressing along these muscles every so often there is a sore spot? When these areas are treated the results can be quite simply, amazing! This system has been very effective for treating immune problems (e.g. Long COVID), gut problems (e.g. IBS), psycho-emotional disorders (e.g. anxiety, combined with herbs) and is also effective for treating nerve pain e.g. chemo induced peripheral neuropathy.
It’s thought this system works on something called the tensegrity network of the body, which is a very thin layer of tissue surrounding each muscle which connects each muscle so they can communicate with each other. If there is a blockage or scar or any kind of interruption to the usual flow of electrical currents within this tissue, this can result in a loss of coherence so that the cells are no longer connected to the rhythm of the network within the body, and pathology can develop. The location of the blockage is usually not where the problem is or symptoms experienced. So when being treated with this system you really need to be open minded and not apply too much logic at face value. An added benefit is usually a lot less needles are required (hello all needle phobes!!), and usually less treatments.
